Calling Governor Pillen
Many of you have asked how you can help. Good news! We are working on an impactful project that you can help us with.
We are creating groups who will call Governor Pillen (402-471-2244) about the McCook Detention Center (the so called Cornhusker Clink). We hope to have 100 people call once a day, for 2 weeks. Dec 1 - 12. This will have a huge effect!
Signup if interested, we suggest using the free "5 Calls" app. It's the easiest, most effective way to reach members of Congress. Use the 5 Calls links down below.
We are looking for Like Minded Friends who would enjoy getting involved.
Come partner with other neighbors, local businesses, and leaders to help strengthen our community through shared action.
Follow the link below to select current projects you would like to participate in.
Book Exchange
If you are interested in sharing or exchanging your old books, feel free to bring those books or reading materials, to our next meeting. We are setting up a system for exchange & distribution.
If just curious, come and perhaps see what others might be offering and get inspired. We would love to meet you anyway!
We know many individuals and families in Omaha are facing real challenges when it comes to accessing basic necessities like food and hygiene items.
We’re inviting everyone who attends our meetings to bring a few essential items if possible. Canned goods, non-perishable foods, soap, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, diapers, etc. - Let’s keep building a community where no one is left behind.
EPA Was Considering Massive Omaha Lead Cleanup - Then Trump Shifted Guidance
The Prine family’s home in Omaha, sits on land with dangerous levels of lead. Doctors have already found lead in the blood of their 2-year-old and 5-year-old sons.
But in October, the Trump administration rolled back the Biden administration’s guidance. In doing so, it tripled the amount of lead that had to be in the soil to warrant a potential cleanup. Government officials now say the concentration isn’t high enough to qualify for a cleanup.
How To Stop Trump From Stealing The 2026 Elections
Brennan Center President Michael Waldman on how Donald Trump could try to subvert the 2026 midterm elections, how he can be stopped, and what can be done to reform America’s electoral system.
Supreme Court Ponders Giving Billionaires More Power Over Elections
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments on Tuesday (Dec 9) in a case that could unravel the final remaining limits on the ultra-rich writing unlimited checks to their preferred federal candidates, opening the door even wider to political corruption.
Every few years, the court’s GOP majority has pushed us closer and closer to a system of election by oligarchs. Keep in mind, the rich do not spend billions of dollars on elections out of the goodness of their hearts, they do it because presidents and representatives will return the favor.
If the court’s majority is going to make it even easier for the Elon Musks of the world to buy elections and reap the rewards, the dissenters will at least call it out.
Data Shows Nearly 75,000 Arrested With No Criminal Records
The data, which includes ICE arrests from Jan. 20 to Oct. 15, shows that nearly 75,000 people with no criminal records have been swept up in immigration operations that the president and his top officials have said would target murderers, rapists and gang members.
The data is compiled by an internal ICE office that handles arrest, detention and deportation data. The administration stopped regularly posting detailed information on ICE arrests in January.
OPPD Board Voting To Continue Burning Coal
OPPD management introduced a resolution to break its promises and indefinitely burn coal at North Omaha Station. Among other things, passage of this resolution would seem to jeopardize OPPD's commitment to reach net zero carbon by 2050.
We urge you to contact these board members and let them know, we want a "NO!" The board has not yet voted on the resolution. We need to amp up the pressure before their next meeting in December.
Join over 1,000 other OPPD customers who have already signed Bold's petition to the board, urging them to keep their promise to close the coal plant.
Trump & Tax Breaks For Corporations
Behind closed doors, Trump’s Treasury Department and IRS have issued new regulations that loosen enforcement, raise income thresholds, and exempt entire industries from compliance, including crypto firms, multinational corporations, and private equity titans.
Tell Congress to enforce the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax and stop the Trump administration from handing out secret tax breaks to the rich and corporations.
Coverup At Social Security Administration
A whistleblower from the Social Security Administration revealed that Elon Musk’s DOGE uploaded all of our private Social Security data to an insecure private server. We don’t know why they did it, and we don’t know where that data is now. Democrats on the committee are demanding an investigation.
The whistleblower was forced to resign. It appears that Trump’s handpicked Social Security Commissioner is now engaging in a coverup. He’s not interested in protecting people who are counting on Social Security―he’s just another MAGA yes man.
No Partnerships With ICE
Nebraska is supporting Trump's mass deportation goals. Add your name and tell Gov. Pillen and other officials that these agreements must end.
If you would like a role in defending our rights, loved ones, and neighbors, then add your name to our growing movement.
Gov. Jim Pillen opted Nebraska in to the new federal voucher program. Voters overwhelmingly rejected vouchers at the ballot box just months ago. He is ignoring us.
The program doesn't start until 2027 - plenty of time for him to honor the voters' wishes. Tell Pillen NO Public Dollars for Private Schools!
